Bulldog boys fall at home
North Mason boys basketball
The North Mason boys basketball team dropped two games last week, falling 63-48 to Sequim on the road Jan. 21, and 95-47 at home to Bremerton on Friday.
North Mason faced Kingston on Tuesday and hosts North Kitsap on Friday.
The Bulldogs are 7-9 overall and 4-6 in Olympic League action.
North Mason girls basketball
The North Mason High School girls basketball team went 2-0 last week with a pair of double-digit home wins.
On Jan. 21, the Bulldogs beat Sequim 38-28
and then Friday, North Mason defeated rival Bremerton 58-29 to open a doubleheader with the boys teams.
North Mason improved to 10-5 overall and 7-3 in Olympic League action.
The Bulldogs hosted Kingston on Tuesday and travel to North Kitsap on Friday, before closing out the regular season next week.
North Mason bowling
The Bulldog bowling team dropped a tight 4-3 match with Port Angeles on Jan. 12 at Hi Joy Bowl, and competed in the Olympic League tournament on Friday.
Results of the tournament were not available as of the Journal's press time.
Shelton boys wrestling
The Shelton High School boys wrestling team finished second at the Kalama Rubber Chicken Tournament on Saturday.
The Climbers' Hunter Leth won the 175-pound weight class, and seven other Shelton wrestlers placed, including Cole Borden (3rd, 132), Richie Lingle (4th, 132), Roman Stigall (4th, 113), Aiden Dodge (4th, 120), Fin Ball (4th, 144), Mark Sanchez (4th, 215) and Cobly Rooks (6th, 126).
On Jan. 23, the Climbers won a home dual meet against Black Hills 46-27 to capture their third straight league win.
Shelton wrapped up the regular season at W.F. West on Wednesday and will head to the district tournament.
Shelton girls wrestling
The Shelton High School girls wrestling team finished second at the Lady Cougar Invitational on Saturday at Central Kitsap High School in Silverdale.
Shelton had three wrestlers win their weight class.
Amaya Carrion won at 100 pounds, Victoria Cation won at 115 and Adell Anderson captured 120.
The Highclimbers' EliBeth Cervantes was second at 140 and Cyann Mobley was third at 145.
Shelton also captured a 42-30 league win against Aberdeen on Jan. 22.
Shelton girls basketball
The Shelton High School girls basketball team split two games last week, earning a 42-27 win over Tumwater on Jan. 21 at Terry Gregg Court in Shelton, but falling 73-61 to Black Hills on Jan. 23 in Olympia.
The Climbers traveled to Aberdeen on Wednesday and host Centralia on Friday.
Shelton is 11-5 overall, 4-2 in Evergreen Conference play.
Shelton boys basketball
The Shelton High School boys basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak Monday with a 53-43 win over Aberdeen at Terry Gregg Court in Shelton.
Last week, Shelton lost 49-24 at Tumwater on Jan. 22 and 56-31 to Black Hills at home.
The Climbers travel to Centralia on Friday.
Mary M. Knight girls basketball
The Owls won two games last week, defeating Willapa Valley 45-36 on Jan. 21 in Matlock and picking up a 43-37 road win over Ocosta in Westport.
Hailey Morris had 15 points and a career-high 18 rebounds in the home win over Willapa.
Maelynn Nygaard added nine points and 10 rebounds, and Tylee Bowcutt and Cloey Fletcher each had seven points for MMK.
The Owls entered this week at 11-5 overall (4-4 in 1B Coastal League action).
MMK hosted Lake Quinault on Tuesday and travels to Sound Christian Academy on Friday.

The Owls dropped two games last week, falling 60-34 at home to Willapa Valley on Jan. 21 and 58-27 to Ocosta on Friday. MMK hosted Lake Quinault on Tuesday.
MMK is 0-14 overall, 0-8 in Coastal League action.
