Colleen Sue Harlow

July 15, 1945 – January 8, 2025

Colleen Sue Harlow (Kenney), aged 79, passed away unexpectedly on January 8, 2025 at Eisenhower Health in Palm Desert, California. Colleen was born on July 15, 1945, in Hillsboro, Illinois, to Quentin and Myrle Kenney. She was the second and final child to join the Kenney family. On April 9, 1965, she married Richard Harlow, and together they built a life filled with love, family, and community.

Colleen will be remembered for her strength of character, the nurture she provided to her family, her love of arts and crafts, and her passion for community support. She was an artist at heart and was a prolific creator of paintings, quilts and porcelain dolls and dabbled in stained glass mosaics and macramé. Colleen and Richard were collectors of antiques and enjoyed spending much of their free time attending auctions, flea markets and estate sales.

Following the death of Richard, she moved to Belfair, Washington to be close to her daughter and granddaughter. She was a successful and talented artist, displaying her paintings at local galleries. Colleen hosted a group of ladies for weekly painting sessions at her home on the Hood Canal where she was inspired by the Olympic Mountains and the wildlife that "graced her front yard with their presence."

Colleen was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church and North Mason Kiwanis Club. She truly loved participating in fundraising activities that support local scholarships for high school students, food banks and other programs that help feed and keep hungry families warm.

While she thrived in her home in Belfair, Colleen was also an avid traveler who loved to explore new places in the world. She traveled regularly to see family and friends domestically and internationally. In her later years, she enjoyed taking cruises, including several with her daughter in Europe.

She is survived by her three children, Chawn, Lyle and Mendy, and four beloved grandchildren Allison, Ewan, Summer and Viviana. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, and her husband. A memorial service will be held for family and friends later in 2025. Colleen will be fondly remembered by all who knew her for her kindness, warmth and candidly outspoken nature.
