Auditions Sunday for Neil Simon play
The Harstine Island Theatre Club hosts auditions for its spring production of “Rose and Walsh” by Neil Simon at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Harstine Island Community Hall, 3371 E. Harstine Island Road N.
This is the last play written by Simon, whose many hits include “The Odd Couple,” “The Sunshine Boys,” “Barefoot in the Park,” “Lost in Yonkers” and “Biloxi Blues.”
“Rose and Walsh” follows two great literary figures and the depth and consequences of their enduring love. Rose, a celebrated but near penniless author, receives nightly visits from Walsh, the love of her life and a famous writer himself. Now Walsh must go away forever, but not before securing Rose’s financial future with an extraordinary proposal that promises to change everything.
The cast includes Rose (age 55 or older), Walsh (55 or older) Rose’s assistant Arlene (30 or older) and a ghost writer who is 30 or older. No preparation is required. Auditioners will do cold readings from the script. The show will be staged March 20-23.
To get to the community hall, take a left off the Harstine Island bridge and drive about 3 miles.
