Shelton-based Our Community Credit Union (OURCU) partnered with Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, Iowa to award more than $1 million in combined funds to seven nonprofit and law enforcement agencies in Mason and Grays Harbor counties.
The matching grant program, which was introduced in 2023, will provide almost $12 million to eligible Washington organizations to strengthen communities.
In a news release, the company states, "Community is in the Credit Union name, and OURCU is proud to collaborate with organizations like the federal Home Loan Bank to enhance our community impact. The partnership not only supports our members' financial well-being but also helps foster safe and healthy communities where everyone can thrive."
Through the partnership, the Shelton Police Department received $21,300 from OURCU and $63,900 from the Impact Fund Grant for a total of $85,200. The Mason County Sheriff's Office received $25,000 from OURCU and $75,000 from the Impact Fund Grant for $100,000.
The Mason General Hospital Foundation received $6,000 from OURCU and $18,000 from the Impact Fund Grant for a total of $24,000.
Love INC of Mason County received $10,000, $2,500 from OURCU and $7,500 from the grant. Turning Pointe Survivor Advocacy Center also received $10,000, $2,500 from OURCU and $7,500 from the grant.
Summit Pacific Medical Foundation received $800,000, $200,000 from OURCU and $600,000 from the grant. YMCA South Sound received $10,000, $2,500 from the credit union and $7,500 from the grant.
Our Community Credit Union is headquartered in Shelton and has seven additional branch locations in Mason and east Grays Harbor counties; Vashon Island; and Steamboat Square in Thurston County.
