Shelton bowling

The Shelton High School girls bowling team won its season opener Nov. 14, defeating Rochester 1,679 to 1,648 at Westside Lanes in Olympia — the Highclimbers’ home alley.

Shelton and Rochester split the opening two regular games, and the Climbers won the second baker game to pull away for the win.

Alivia Holte led the team with a high game of 210 and averaged 166.5 for the night.

Kai Aronson was second, averaging 163.5.

“The team is already showing amazing depth with a number of first- time bowlers,” Shelton coach Jennifer Deyette wrote in an email to the Journal.

Shelton faced Tumwater on Tuesday and takes on Centralia today at 3 p.m. at Westside Lanes.

North Mason bowling

The Bulldogs’ bowling team dropped its season opener to Klahowya 6-1 on Nov. 14 at All-Star Lanes in Silverdale.

North Mason faced Olympic on Tuesday at Hi Joy Bowl in Port Orchard, and takes on Sequim today at Laurel Lanes and Orting on Friday at Hi Joy.

Three Owls football players earned postseason honors after a vote of the league’s head coaches was announced last week.

Junior offensive lineman Deakyn Bullington, junior running back Jordan Wood and senior defensive tackle Ben Camacho each earned 6-man football All-League honors.
