A man who allegedly thought aliens were attacking him was arrested for vandalizing the Mason County Sheriff's Office in downtown Shelton on Nov. 14, according to court documents.
A deputy driving by the office around 6:45 p.m. saw Alexander Ivory, 21, inside the parking lot by the automatic gate, the MCSO probable cause document states.
"As I pulled into the lot, I could hear Alexander yelling, followed by a throwing motion towards the records office window. I immediately heard the crash of broken glass but was unable to see the damage due to the lighting," MCSO Deputy White wrote.
White pursued Ivory, who ran into Brewer Park, according to the document.
"Once Alexander was in the park, I witnessed him pick up a large stick and began to swing it in the air. While Alexander was waving the stick around, I noticed him holding a padlock in one of his hands. The padlock was dropped at some point while Alexander swung the stick around. It was later determined the padlock went to the side gate, is property of the Mason County Sheriff's Office," according to White.
Ivory refused the deputy's order to get on the ground, according to the document, and White readied a Taser.
Additional police arrived and Ivory dropped the stick and "was placed into wrist restraints without any further incident," White stated.
Deputies returned to the office and found two broken windows, a broken glass door and damage to property inside the building from rocks.
Ivory was arrested for first-degree malicious mischief and third-degree theft.
Judge Daniel Goodell ordered a competency evaluation for Ivory, who "believes aliens were attacking him, doesn't understand the process, says the case is dismissed," according to the order for competency evaluation.
Ivory's next hearing is scheduled for Monday in Mason County Superior Court.
