Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS is seen Oct. 12, the first evening it was visible, and at its brightest, in the mostly clear hour after sunset as it set behind the Olympic Mountains. The picture was taken from state Route 106, looking southwest. Weather permitting, the comet will be visible shortly after sunset until the end of October, each night higher in the sky and less bright. It will be 80,000 years until it passes by Earth again.
