Lawrence Richard Ambrose was born June 1, 1938 in Tacoma to George and Aurora Ambrose. He passed away August 26, 2024 at home in Grapeview, WA. He lived on Mason Lake for 17 years.

During his life, he lived in Tacoma, Castle Rock, Longview and various locations while serving in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from Stadium High School in Tacoma, WA in 1957, and later attended Tacoma Community College and the University of Puget Sound. He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and 10 years in the Fleet Reserve. His military awards include four Good Conduct Awards, a National Defense Service Medal, and an Armed Forces Reserve Medal. He retired in 1988 at the rank of CPO/E7. Lawrence then worked as an accountant, under ‘Ambrose Accounting & Tax’ for 24 years.

Lawrence made berry wine for over 35 years. He enjoyed running and outdoor activities. He ran the Sound to Narrows race in Tacoma for many years and the Heart Run a few times. He earned a Certificate for the Ascent of Mt. Rainier in 1985. He also loved to travel, was an avid reader and enjoyed his boat. He was friendly and liked a good joke. He subscribed to Reader’s Digest mostly for the jokes.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary Ambrose of Grapeview, WA; daughter, Lorraine Ambrose of Tacoma; stepson, Clay Sanders (Chrys) of Yelm; stepdaughters Jennifer Sanders of Vancouver and Liana Sanders of Longview; six step-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren.
