Alva Torgals, 5, chooses a book to take home for free from the South Sound Reading Foundation at the North Mason School District's annual picnic Aug. 21 in the parking lot in front of North Mason High School. Other groups that hosted booths at the event included Mason Health, Peninsula Credit Union, Northwest Resources, Crossroads Housing, YMCA, the Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group, the Coalition of Churches and Community, Turning Pointe Survivor Advocacy Center, Kiwanis, Boys & Girls Clubs, Family Education and Support Services, and The Youth Connection.
