Rosenbach to retire

Stepping down after 11 years at NMSD

North Mason School District Superintendent Dana Rosenbach announced her retirement at Monday's board meeting.

She will work throughout this school year and retire June 30..

"This will be my eleventh year at North Mason. This will be my last year," she said at the meeting.

"I am looking forward to taking on new opportunities and I think it's a wonderful opportunity for the district as well to have new leadership," Rosenbach said.

Board Member Erik Youngberg thanked Rosenbach for serving the district. "Thank you for everything you've done over the past eleven years," he said.

Board Member Leanna Krotzer said she was "super sad" to see Rosenbach go.

"You're not gone yet," she said. "I want everybody to celebrate the end with you. Cheering and excitement into however you want to finish out," Krotzer said.

Her time at the district has been one of the most rewarding periods of her career, she said.

"Over the past 10 years, I have had the privilege of working alongside an exceptional team of educators, administration, and support staff. Together, we have navigated challenges, celebrated successes, and most importantly, made a positive impact on the lives of our students. I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished as a district, from building effective systems of support to fostering a culture of inclusivity, and innovation, building a focus on Whole Child, Whole School, Whole Community. We have led the way in developing MTSS (multitiered systems of support), implementing student safety initiatives and supporting the health of students, staff and families through our partnership resulting in our campus health center," Rosenbach said in a statement.

"I am confident that the district is well-positioned for success. Our dedicated staff, engaged community, and talented students will undoubtedly carry forward the mission and vision we have collectively established. I look forward to the coming year as we continue to learn and grow together," she wrote.

Rosenbach will work with the Board of Education to find a successor, according to the statement.

Rosenbach thanked the board, staff, students, parents and community members for their support throughout her tenure.

"As I embark on this new chapter of my life, I look forward to spending more time with my family and pursuing personal interests. I will always remain a steadfast advocate for public education and the success of our students.

"Thank you for the opportunity to serve this wonderful community. I wish you all continued success and prosperity," she wrote.

Rosenbach announced her resignation now in order to position North Mason "to get the best applicants," she said.

Rosenbach advised hiring a superintendent search firm at Monday's meeting and the board approved a list of qualifications that will go to the search firms before the board engages a firm, if it chooses to do so.

Rosenbach has been the North Mason School District superintendent since 2014.
