Summer movies at Shelton Cinemas

Admission is by donation to summer movies hosted by Shelton Cinemas in downtown Shelton.

The doors open at noon and the movies begin at 12:30 p.m. They are "Minions: Rise of Gru" Monday, "Sing 2" on Aug. 12, "Trolls Band Together" on Aug. 19 and "How to Train Your Dragon" on Aug. 26.

The concessions are specially priced, with hot dogs for $1.50, popcorn for $1,50 and soda for $1.50, or all three for $3.50.

Market on the Hill in Hoodsport

St. Germain Episcopal Church hosts its Market on the Hill from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 10 and 24 and Sept. 14 and 28 at 600 Lake Cushman Road, Hoodsport.

Love INC golf fundraiser

Registration is open for the 13th annual Love INC (In the Name of Christ) charity golf tournament hosted Aug. 19 at the Alderbrook Golf and Yacht Club in Union, and tickets are also available for the golf ball drop from a helicopter following the tournament.

This is the primary source of financial support for the mission of Love INC, a Shelton-based nonprofit group whose 25 partner churches work together connecting people in need to Christ while providing goods and services such as clothing, blankets, furniture, backpacks for kids, diapers and medical equipment.

Participaction in the golf tournament is limited to 40 teams of four, so early registration is recommended. Golfers pay a registration fee of $150 each, which covers their green fees and provides tee packs that include a sleeve of three balls and a meal at the end of the tournament.

Teams of up to four have won as much as $600 for a first-place finish. Register by calling 360-462-5683.

To participate in the golf ball drop after the tournament, buy a ticket for $10 that gets your number on a golf ball that is dropped from a helicopter on the golf course's 18th hole. You will be eligible to win as much as $2,000 for a hole-in-one, and $150 to $1,000 depending on how close your ball falls to the 18th hole. Tickets are available at 360-462-5683.
