Alberta "Bert" Naff, age 80, of Olympia passed away at home on Monday, July 15, 2024, in the care of her family after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Bert was born on March 4, 1944, to Nick and Bertha Schaff Doll in Mandan, North Dakota. On November 7, 1960, then Alberta Doll married Donald Stanton in Glen Ullin, North Dakota and they went on to welcome three children, Ted, Jodene, and Kelly. Later Bert met the love of her life Edward Naff in Missoula, Montana. Upon moving to Washington, they resided on Harstine Island where they spent many happy days hosting friends and family on the beach. Bert and Ed married on August 23, 1985, and together were active members in the Shelton Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Bert later pursued and received her GED from the Olympic College. She worked in food services up until her retirement in 2006. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.
Bert was preceded in death by her parents, Nick and Bertha, her husband Ed, her son Ted, daughter-in-law Robin Stanton, two infant sisters and one infant brother, brother-in-law Kevin Utter, and two sisters-in-laws, Lauri Doll and Kathy Sossa. She is survived by her daughters, Jodene Hughes and Kelly Collins of Olympia, grandchildren Chandler, Austyn, Wendy Jo, and Heather, her siblings Albert Doll of Florida, Jim (Ruth) Doll, Jack Doll and, JoAnn (Bob) Oppall of Glen Ullin, Bonnie Doll of Mandan, Don (Chelle) Doll of Bismark, and many nieces and nephews.
A private celebration of Bert's life will be held in Mandan, North Dakota, where she will be laid to rest next to her son. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in Bert's honor to the Alzheimer's Association.
