Dedicated to the citizens of Mason County, Washington since 1886

Bonnie Jean Hedman/Hardison/Russell

May 31, 1940 - June 28, 2024

Born in Tacoma and a longtime Mason County resident, Bonnie's family has a local multigenerational history. Please read Bonnie's full obituary on the McComb & Wagner Funeral Home website: http://www.mccombwagner.com/34/Home.html.

The family knew Bonnie for her quick wit and jokester mentality as she attended schools in Tacoma before attending Irene Reed High School during her junior year in 1957 before transferring to graduate from Lincoln High School. Bonnie Hedman and Donald Hardison married on February 28, 1959, at her mother's home in Tacoma. They eventually moved to the Cloquallum homestead in 1964, where they raised their two daughters.

Bonnie volunteered as a firefighter, EMT, treasurer, and commissioner with Mason County Fire District 13, dedicating many years before retiring. Keeping the passion in the family, her great-grandchildren are 4th generation volunteer firefighters for the fire district, with her son-in-law as fire commissioner.

Bonnie worked for EBASCO, one of the sub-trades with the Washington Public Power Supply System's (WPPSS) fiscal department, from 1972 to 1978 in Elma. She also served as an office manager at Ben Franklin Crafts and Frame Shop and in the office at Olympic Tool in Shelton. She enjoyed being the scorekeeper for the company baseball games and camping along the Naselle River.

In December 1999, Bonnie married Bill Russell. He preceded her in death, as well as her mother, Beulah (Craig) Elliott; father, Roy Hedman, and her stepmother and stepfathers; sister, Hazel (Hedman) Duncan; and half-brother, Kevin Hedman.

Survivors include her two daughters, Dawn Hardison-Stevens, her husband Rick, and Debra (Hardison) Hoxit. Her four grandchildren are Rick, Jr. (Kady Rollins) Stevens, Melissa (Joe Puhn) Stevens-Puhn, Chris (Chelsi Claussen) Hoxit, and Jason (Elizabeth Monger) Hoxit; Her brother Harvey (Janice Banks) Hedman, half-sisters Alisa (Hedman) Barnes and Lori Hedman, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
