Comic murder mystery on Harstine
The Harstine Island Theatre Club stages the comic murder mystery "You Have the Right to Remain Dead" at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Harstine Island Community Hall, 3371 E. Harstine Island Road N. The Saturday and Sunday shows have been canceled this weekend due to illness among the cast and crew.
Next weekend, the show is staged at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday.
Admission is $10. Tickets are sold at the door and Olympic Bakery on Pickering Road and Williams Gifts and Flowers in downtown Shelton. To get to the theater, take a left after driving off the bridge to the island and drive about 3 miles.
In the play written by Pat Cook, a murder occurs and everyone is a suspect, including the cast, the crew and members of the audience. The fabled "fourth wall" in theater comes down as the action bleeds into the audience.
Car show Sunday in downtown Shelton
The Cruisin' Through Time Car Show is hosted from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday in downtown Shelton.
The registration fee is $20, and registration begins at 8 a.m. The judging begins at 10 a.m.
Summer movies at Shelton Cinemas
Admission is by donation to summer movies hosted by Shelton Cinemas in downtown Shelton.
The doors open at noon and the movies begin at 12:30 p.m. They are "Land Before Time" July 1, "Abominable" July 9, "Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken" July 15, "Shrek 2" July 22, "The Little Rascals" July 29, "Minions: Rise of Gru" Aug. 5, "Sing 2" Aug. 12, "Trolls Band Together" Aug. 19 and "How to Train Your Dragon" Aug. 26.
The concessions are specially priced, with hot dogs for $1.50, popcorn for $1.50 and soda for $1.50, or all three for $3.50.
Spell-E-Bration fundraiser Saturday at senior center
The Shelton-based nonprofit Sound Learning hosts its annual fundraiser Spell-E-Bration from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at The Pavilion at Sentry Park at the Mason County Senior Activity Center at 190 W. Sentry Drive.
The event features three-member teams competing in a community spelling bee, a silent auction, dessert buffet and live music. The event raises money to help adults become more literate. To join a team for the event, call Sound Learning at 360-426-9733 or email [email protected].
The silent auction items for the event include four tickets to a Seattle Storm basketball game, framed art, oil changes at Denny's Auto Service, spa visits at Little Creek Casino Resort and Vance Creek Railriders tickets.
Kids' Bible Camp at Shelton church
Shelton Presbyterian Church hosts a Kids' Camp for children ages 4 through 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 9-12 and 14 at 1430 Shelton Springs Road.
This year's theme is "Jesus Takes Care of Us." The camp includes Bible class, arts and crafts, drama, singing and games.
At the worship service at 10 a.m. July 14, the kids will present what they learned during the camp. Lunch will be provided that day. Register for camp through the church office at 360-432-8696 or the first morning at camp.
Market on the Hill coming Saturdays in Hoodsport
St. Germain Episcopal Church hosts its Market on the Hill from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, and on July 27, Aug. 10 and 24 and Sept. 14 and 28 at 600 Lake Cushman Road, Hoodsport.
The July 13 market is combined with the food bank annual fundraiser at the Hoodsport Fire Station at 331 N. Finch Creek Road in Hoodsport.
John Denver tribute singer in Hoodsport
Ted Vigil performs his tribute to singer/songwriter John Denver at
3 p.m. Sunday at the Hoodsport fire station, 331 N. Finch Creek Road, Hoodsport.
You can expect Vigil, who performed in Hoodsport in 2015, to sing such hits as "Take Me Home, Country Roads," "Leaving on a Jet Plane," "Annie's Song" and "Rocky Mountain High." Admission is the suggested donation of $20, which goes to the performer. Information: Lois at 360-877-5862.
Patio & Bake sale hosted in Union
St. Hugh Episcopal Church hosts its 33rd annual Patio & Bake Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 20 at 280 E. Wheelwright St., Allyn, off Lakeland Boulevard.
Proceeds benefit Mason County agencies. The offerings will include collectibles, linens, household items, jewelry, plants, books, games, tools, sports equipment, pies, breads and fresh baked cinnamon rolls.
