Market on the Hill Saturdays in Hoodsport

St. Germain Episcopal Church hosts its Market on the Hill from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 29, July 27, Aug. 10 and 24 and Sept. 14 and 28 at 600 Lake Cushman Road, Hoodsport.

The July 13 market is combined with the food bank annual fundraiser at the Hoodsport Fire Station at 331 N. Finch Creek Road in Hoodsport.

Poetry reading Saturday at Shelton Library

Poet Pamela Mitchell will read from her book of poetry, “Finding Lost Pond,” at 5 p.m. June 22 at the Shelton Timberland Library, 710 W. Alder St.

Mitchell is a retired nurse, and “Finding Lost Pond,” published in 2021 by Finishing Line Press, is the story of a nurse’s life as she is bearing witness to and holding the suffering of her patients, her parents and her own life. Her current work is a memoir “Bequeathed,” a book of essays about her work for Kitsap County Health Department in founding the AIDS program and winning an award from the local chapter of National Organization for Women in the 1980s.

Mitchell is currently at artist in residence at Hypatia-in-the-Woods outside Shelton.

Spell-E-Bration fundraiser June 29 at senior center

The Shelton-based nonprofit Sound Learning hosts its annual fundraiser Spell-E-Bration from 4 to 8 p.m. June 29 at The Pavilion at Sentry Park at the Mason County Senior Activity Center at 190 W. Sentry Drive.

The event features three-member teams competing in a community spelling bee, a silent auction, dessert buffet and live music. The event raises money to help adults become more literate. To join a team for the event, call Sound Learning at 360-426-9733 or email [email protected].

The silent auction items for the event include four tickets to a Seattle Storm basketball game, framed art, oil changes at Denny’s Auto Service, spa visits at Little Creek Casino Resort and Vance Creek Railriders tickets.

John Denver tribute singer in Hoodsport

Ted Vigil performs his tribute to singer/songwriter John Denver at 3 p.m. June 30 at the Hoodsport fire station, 331 N. Finch Creek Road, Hoodsport.

You can expect Vigil, who performed in Hoodsport in 2015, to sing such hits as “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” “Leaving on a Jet Plane,” “Annie’s Song” and “Rocky Mountain High.” Admission is the suggested donation of $20, which goes to the performer. Information: Lois at 360-877-5862.
