Dedicated to the citizens of Mason County, Washington since 1886
Bruce Byron Bamford was born to Rob and Bobbie Bamford on November 23, 1954, in Port Angeles, Washington. Bruce passed away in Olympia, Washington, on January 9, 2024, after a two-year courageous fight with cancer. Bruce graduated from Shelton High School in 1973 and worked for Safeway for many years in Shelton, Ellensburg, and Olympia. He then went to work at MetLife and went on to become certified in long-term care insurance and decided to start his own business, Bamford Financial Services in Olympia.
Bruce truly cared for senior citizens. Working with seniors was his life passion, and he was 100% dedicated to helping them. He worked with and helped start Senior Action Network, as well as served on that board for many years. He was also very involved with Senior Services for South Sound.
Bruce retired about three years ago and loved traveling in his motorhome and taking bike trips on his Gold Wing. He loved to fish, meet new people, loved his family and friends, and wholeheartedly loved life, which he lived to the fullest. Spending time with family and friends was also a priority in Bruce's life. Part of that celebration was spending every year with friends at Oyster Fest and the Black Lake Regatta Hydroplane races, which were two more of Bruce's passions. To say the least, he was adventurous, compassionate, honest, hard-working, and easy-going. He was loved by everyone and made friends easily.
Bruce is survived by his sister, Barbara Bamford Dunbar (and her husband, Gene) of Chandler, Arizona, and numerous cousins.
His celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, 11:00 a.m., at South Sound Manor, 455 North Street SE, Tumwater, WA 98501. Following the memorial, there will be a reception held at the Evergreen Shores Beach Club at Black Lake, 7540 Lakeside St. SW, Olympia, WA 98512.
Donations in Bruce's memory may be made to Kitten Rescue of Mason County, 420 SE State Route 3, Shelton, WA 98584.
