Dedicated to the citizens of Mason County, Washington since 1886
The annual Matlock Old Timers Historical Fair is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Mary M. Knight School in Matlock.
Engine enthusiasts can check out a steam donkey and antique tractors. Inside the gym, patrons can find bargains at the swap meet tables, listen to live music, and create crafts. Fun-seekers can plummet down a pink slide.
The selection of food offerings includes homemade pies. Take a ride in a horse-drawn wagon and watch a chainsaw artist create images from wood.
Admission is free. The school is at 2987 Matlock-Brady Road. Dogs on leashes are welcome.
The displays include World War II vehicles, some of them still operational. The event also celebrates the region's heritage in the timber industry.
The John Tornow Museum will be open. Patrons can buy raffle tickets to win artworks.
Organizers are seeking volunteers to help set up the fair Friday. The Mary M. Knight Parent Teacher Organization will serve meals to volunteers. Sign up at the office at Mary M. Knight High School. Volunteers are also needed to collect garbage, offer guidance at the information booth and greet visitors at the museum on Saturday and Sunday.
The event debuted in 1986. It was interrupted for two years by the COVID pandemic.
