Three Shelton swimmers sign to compete in college

Shelton seniors Lelia Ollenburg, Kaylin Mutoli and Jayden Lovingfoss all signed to swim in college next year.

Ollenburg is staying the closest, signing with the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma. Ollenburg finished fifth in the 100-yard butterfly and eighth in the 200-yard individual medley at the state meet. She was also a part of the second-place 400-yard freestyle relay and third-place 200-yard freestyle relay.

Mutoli signed to swim with Fresno Pacific University in Fresno, California. Mutoli finished fourth in the 200-yard freestyle and sixth in the 100-yard freestyle and was part of the 400-yard freestyle and 200-yard individual medley at the state meet.

Lovingfoss signed to swim at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon. Lovingfoss was part of the 200-yard individual medley relay team that finished seventh and the 400-yard freestyle relay team that finished eighth at the state meet in February.

Dance

The Shelton Dance Team placed second in the Military category at the 2A state dance championships on March 23 at the Yakima Sundome.

Shelton scored 240.60, which is an exceptional rating. The Highclimbers finished fifth in the Pom Dance with a score of 243.50, just behind fourth-place Selah with a score of 243.70.

Baseball

Shelton lost to Tumwater 9-0 on March 19 in Shelton and 2-1 on March 20 at Tumwater.

The Highclimbers (1-3, 0-2) traveled to Aberdeen on Tuesday and hosted the Bobcats on Wednesday in Shelton.

Boys soccer

Shelton lost to Tumwater 6-0 on March 22 in Shelton and 2-1 on the road against Rochester on March 22.

The Highclimbers (2-3-1, 2-3) traveled to Aberdeen on Tuesday. Shelton plays against Black Hills at 7 p.m. on Friday at Highclimber Stadium.

Softball

Shelton lost to Centralia 19-5 on March 20 in Shelton and lost 13-9 against Rochester on Monday in Shelton.

The Highclimbers (1-5, 0-3) hosted Tumwater on Tuesday and hosts Aberdeen on Wednesday in Evergreen Conference games before spring break.

Track

The Shelton boys finished third and the girls placed fourth as a team at an Evergreen Conference track and field meet with Aberdeen, Black Hills and Tumwater on March 19 in Tumwater.

In girls results, senior Maryjane Hageman won the 100-meter hurdles in 18.36 seconds and the 300-meter hurdles in 55.20 seconds.

Senior Lily Bennett placed second in the 1,600-meter race. Junior Tatum Dickey finished third in the 800-meter race and junior Quinn Neal finished third in the high jump.

The 4x200 relay team of Hageman, Neal, Riley Aldrich and Dickey finished third and the 4x400 relay team of Bennett, Alisha Carpenter, Claire Warnock and Katelyn Sartori took third place.

In boys results, senior Carson Bursch won the 1,600-meter race in 5:00.50 and sophomore Tyson Bartholomew took third place.

Junior Benjamin Morford placed second in the high jump and sophomore Bennett Henry took third place in the javelin. Senior Scott Jordan finished third in the triple jump.

Shelton competes at 3:30 p.m. today in a home Evergreen Conference meet with Aberdeen, Black Hills and W.F. West.

North Mason

Baseball

North Mason won 4-2 against Bremerton on March 19 in Belfair and won against Bremerton 10-0 on March 21 in Bremerton in Olympic League baseball action.

The Bulldogs (3-3, 2-2) traveled back to Bremerton on Tuesday to face Olympic. North Mason plays Olympic at 4:15 p.m. today in Belfair.

Boys soccer

North Mason won 7-1 against Port Angeles on March 19 in Belfair and won 4-2 against Bremerton on March 21 in Belfair in Olympic League boys soccer matches.

The Bulldogs (2-1-1, 2-1) traveled to Bremerton to face Olympic on Tuesday and plays against Kingston at 6:45 p.m. today in Belfair to wrap up the schedule before spring break.

Softball

North Mason lost 9-7 against Kingston on March 19 on the road and lost 14-1 against Port Angeles on March 21 in Belfair.

The Bulldogs (2-3, 0-3) traveled to Bremerton to take on the Knights on Tuesday and traveled to Kent on Wednesday to play against Kent-Meridian. North Mason plays against Sequim at 4:15 p.m. today in Belfair in an Olympic League game.

Girls tennis

North Mason lost 5-2 against Olympic on March 21 in Bremerton in an Olympic League girls tennis match.

The Bulldogs hosted Bainbridge on Wednesday in Belfair. North Mason competes at 4 p.m. today against North Kitsap in Poulsbo.

Mary M. Knight

Track

Mary M. Knight sophomore Andiana Ziegler finished second in the 800-meter race at a 1B league track and field meet March 21 in Kalama.

Ziegler finished the race in 2 minutes, 54 seconds. Sophomore Zoie Anderson finished third in the high jump.

In boys results, sophomore Logan Green finished second in the high jump with a height of 5 feet, 6 inches, and placed fifth in the shot put. Freshman Ryder Lake placed ninth in the 400-meter race.

MMK is back in action at 3:30 p.m. today in a league meet at Naselle.
