Rose Ane (Sandi) Kvarnstrom

Rose Ane (Sandi) Kvarnstrom was born on March 20, 1946, to John and Rose Jensen in Bremerton, WA.

Sandi went to school in Bremerton and graduated high school in 1965, then went on to get her bachelor's degree from the University of Oregon.

Returning to the area, she worked in the front office for Dr. Don LePere in Belfair from 1972 to 1990.

In 1990, Sandi and her husband Carl purchased the Purdy Canyon Drive Inn, north of Shelton, WA. They owned the drive inn for 18 years, until the state bought the property and began to reconfigure the bridge at the Skokomish Valley Road.

Sandi began her volunteer career in fire service in Kitsap County in 1978. She was a firefighter and completed her EMT certification a few years later. In 1985 she and her daughter moved back to Belfair, where she continued with Mason County Fire Dist 2. When she and Carl purchased the drive inn, she volunteered with Mason County Fire Dist 9, responding as a firefighter/EMT until 2007. She also served as one of the fire department's commissioners. She worked for MCDEM as the training officer and a search coordinator for nearly a decade.

In September of 2019, Sandi and Carl sold their house in Shelton and moved to Albuquerque, NM to be closer to their daughter, Kim.

Sandi went to be with Jesus on February 25, 2024. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Kvarnstrom. She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Weinberger of Albuquerque, NM, her grandson, Kristopher Krabler and his wife Alexandria, and her great grandchildren, Zoey and Zachary, currently of Rota, Spain.

A celebration of life will be held on March 30, 11:00 a.m. at the Skokomish Community Church, 3011 W. Skokomish Valley Road, Shelton WA, 98584, followed by a potluck.
