Curt Lesley Cheney passed away February 5, 2024 in Medford, Oregon. Curt and his twin sister Connie were born February 7, 1950, in Shelton Washington. Curt and Connie attended Shelton schools, graduating from Shelton High School in 1968. Curt was an outstanding track athlete. In 1968, he finished second in the Pole Vault to Casey Carrigan in the Shelton Invitational. Casey Carrigan went on to be an Olympic gold medalist in the Pole Vault.
After high school, Curt worked briefly for Manke Lumber Company before relocating to Shady Cove, Oregon to become a logger. He contract logged in Oregon, California, Washington and Alaska. He loved being a logger and working in the woods. Logging is a dangerous profession, so when he would get injured, he worked briefly as a trucker and in sales but as soon as he got healthy, he returned to the woods.
Curt was preceded in death by his father Arnold (Arn) Cheney and mother LaDonna (Donna) Cheney, sister Linda Hastings and twin sister Connie Wilson. Curt is survived by his wife Pam Cheney, daughter Joy Cheney, granddaughters Sunny Cooper, and Journey Lopez, also sister Arlene (Earl) Hari, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be a celebration of life at St. Martin Episcopal Church - 95 Cleveland Street - Shady Cove, OR 97539 on March 2nd, 2024 at 1:00 p.m.
