North Mason boys basketball

The North Mason High School boys basketball team dropped two games last week, falling 80-79 in double-overtime senior night to Olympic on Jan. 30 and then lost a 63-54 decision at Bainbridge on Feb. 1.

The Bulldogs faced North Kitsap on Tuesday and host Neah Bay in a doubleheader with the girls team at 6:30 p.m. tonight.

The North Mason girls basketball team split two games last week, blowing out Olympic 45-32 on the road on Jan. 30 before falling 50-34 to Bainbridge on Feb. 1 at home.

The Bulldogs faced North Kitsap on Tuesday, and then take on Neah Bay at 5 p.m. today in Belfair. They wrap up the regular season Friday at Franklin Pierce.

If North Mason earns a berth in the District tournament, those games will be played next week.

North Mason boys wrestling

The North Mason boys had six wrestlers finish in the top four at the Olympic League subregional tournament Saturday at Sequim. The Bulldogs finished third as a team.

Sean Evans (113), Blake Evans (132), Charles Broughton (150), Pedro Salvador (157), Angel Salvador (157) and Parker Maurer (165) each advanced to this week's regional round.

North Mason girls wrestling

North Mason's Sadie Evans won the 155-pound weight class at the Girls 1.2 Subregional tournament Saturday in Belfair.

Evans, who finished third at state last year as a sophomore, is 23-4 overall this season and defeated Steilacoom's Amina Thomas with a 4-0 decision in the title match.

Evelyn Talbot (115), Brooke Howard (130) and Camrynn Pike (170) also finished in the top four of their weight class to book a ticket to this week's regional round.

Mary M. Knight boys basketball

The Mary M. Knight High School boys basketball team saw its season end in the opening round of the 1B District 4 tournament with a 48-25 loss to Pe Ell.

The Owls, who went winless in 2022-23, finished the year with five wins and tied for third place in the 1B Coastal League standings.

Last week, MMK fell 68-22 to Taholah and defeated Wishkah Valley 53-26 on Friday to pull into a tie with Lake Quinault for third. The Elks, however, won a Saturday tiebreaker game to take the No. 3 seed.

Mary M. Knight girls basketball

The Owls' girls basketball team split two games last week, falling 68-24 to league champion Taholah, but rebounded for a 51-15 win Friday at Wishkah Valley to secure second place in the 1B Coastal League standings.

MMK (6-2 Coastal League 11-8 overall) had a double bye into the double-elimination semifinals of the district tournament.

The Owls host a semifinal game between the winner of Wednesday night's contest between Willapa Valley and Columbia Adventist at 6 p.m. Friday.

Shelton boys basketball

The Shelton High School boys basketball team split two games last week, falling 54-52 at Aberdeen on Jan. 30 before returning home Friday to top Centralia 47-29 on senior night.

The win over the Tigers clinched a spot for Shelton in the 2A District 4 pigtail game against Hockinson tonight. Shelton beat Hockinson 54-36 on Dec. 28 at Terry Gregg Court in Shelton in a nonconference matchup.

On Monday, Shelton fell 68-60 to W.F. West overtime at home to wrap up the regular season.

Shelton girls basketball

The Highclimber girls basketball team dropped their final two games of the season, falling 47-39 to Aberdeen on Jan. 31 and 53-48 to Centralia on Friday. Shelton finished the season 2-16 overall, 1-11 in Evergreen Conference action.

Shelton girls wrestling

The Shelton girls wrestling team finished third at the District 4 Girls North subregional Saturday at Hoquiam High School.

Eight Highclimbers placed in the top four and advanced to this week's regional tournament.

Amaya Carran (100 pounds), Adell Anderson (105), Chloe Akramoff (125), Sofia Todd (130), Abbigail Ripp (135), Crystal Nielsen (140), Aurora Marcy (190) and Angela Anderson (235) each advanced.

Shelton boys wrestling

Shelton's Ty Fleshman (126 pounds) and Logan Peach (132 pounds) captured subregional titles Saturday during the Evergreen Conference subregional tournament at W.F. West High School in Chehalis.

Richard Lingle (132), Cole Borden (138), Caleb Brennan (144), Phenix Oleachea (150), Hunter Leth (175), Bradley Eveland (190), Mark Sanchez (215) and Noa Tuitea (285) each finished in the top four to advance to this week's regional round.
