Shelton boys basketball extends win streak

Shelton girls wrestling

The Shelton girls won the Mount Tahoma Classic girls wrestling tournament Jan. 6 in Tacoma.

The Highclimbers had six girls win their respective tournaments. Shelton’s Amaya Carran won the 100-pound tournament with wins against Lake Washington’s Ela Caglar, Montesano’s Julianna Smith and Shelton’s Naima Harmon.

Adell Anderson won the 105-pound tournament with wins against Interlake’s Dhruvi Neerudu, Mount Tahoma’s Aydin Harbin and Lincoln (Tacoma) Heather Johnson. Shelton’s Sofia Todd won the 130-pound tournament with wins against Heritage’s Arina Zhomiru, Evergreen’s (Seattle) Valerie Rye Broussard and Interlake’s Mikaela Ortiz.

Shelton’s Crystal Nielsen won the 145-pound tournament with wins against South Kitsap’s Persephone Miller, Tenino’s Tamara Snodderly, Interlake’s Daphne Jackson Wong and Lakeside’s (Seattle) Gabi Guidero. Aurora Marcy won the 190-pound tournament with wins against Ingraham’s Aoife Bryan, Shelton’s Nielle Arzola, Lincoln’s (Tacoma) Aliyah Chimal and Lincoln’s (Tacoma) Tiare Black.

Angela Anderson won the 235-pound tournament for the Highclimbers with wins against Lincoln’s (Tacoma) Jenisty Ongosia-Weggen, Lincoln’s (Tacoma) Analise Collier and Mount Tahoma’s Jasia Fuamatu.

Shelton travels to Tumwater on Jan. 17 to compete in an Evergreen Conference match against the Thunderbirds.

Shelton won 49-36 against the Tigers on Jan. 2 in Centralia and won 47-35 against Aberdeen on Jan. 4 at Terry Gregg Court in the Shelton Mini-Dome in an Evergreen Conference game.

The Highclimbers (6-5, 3-1) traveled to Rochester on Wednesday. Shelton hosts Tumwater at 7 p.m. Friday at the Mini-Dome in a conference game.

Shelton girls basketball

Shelton earned a 46-43 win against Centralia on Jan. 3 at Terry Gregg Court in the Mini-Dome for its first Evergreen Conference win of the season.

The Highclimbers fell 47-31 to Aberdeen on Jan. 5 on the road.

Shelton (2-8, 1-4) hosted Rochester on Tuesday.

The Highclimbers travel to Tumwater at 7 p.m. today to face the Thunderbirds in a league game.

Shelton girls bowling

Shelton lost to Aberdeen 1,572 to 1,539 in an Evergreen Conference girls bowling match on Jan. 4 at Westside Lanes in Olympia.

Ruby Hernandez bowled 161, Abbie Hirzel recorded a 139 and Maricris Gaspar-Zacarias tallied a 131 to record new high games for the season.

The team bowled a 189 baker game that included a turkey and a double. Shelton won the Baker matches by 72 pins.

Josefina Francico-Zacarias,

Kaelynn Robbins, Caitlin Foreman, Marsybel Hernandez-Zacarias and Alivia Holte bowled varsity for the Highclimbers.

Shelton played against Black Hills on Tuesday as the away team at Westside Lanes in Olympia. The Highclimbers host W.F. West at 3 p.m. today at Westside Lanes for senior night. The District IV tournament is on Jan. 26 at Triangle Bowl in Longview.

Shelton boys wrestling

Shelton finished second and North Mason finished sixth at the Matman Classic wrestling tournament at Central Kitsap High School in Silverdale.

Shelton’s Aiden Weythman won the 113-pound tournament and Ty Fleshman won the 126-pound tournament. Logan Peach in the 138-pound tournament and Phenix Oleachea in the 157-pound tournament each placed second for the Highclimbers.

Noa Tuitea in 285-pound tournament, Hunter Leth in the 175-pound tournament and Aiden Dodge in the 120-pound tournament all finished third for the Highclimbers.

North Mason’s Pedro Salvador won the 165-pound tournament and Charles Broughton finished second in the 150-pound tournament. Angel Salvador placed third in the 157-pound tournament.

Shelton hosted Rochester in an Evergreen Conference dual meet on Wednesday at the Mini-Dome.

North Mason hosted Kingston and North Kitsap on Wednesday in Olympic League wrestling matches in Belfair.

North Mason boys basketball

North Mason won 43-40 against Olympic on Jan. 4 in Bremerton and won 58-42 on Jan. 6 against Klahowya in Silverdale.

The Bulldogs (4-5, 2-3) hosted Bainbridge on Tuesday in Belfair. North Mason plays against North Kitsap at 7 tonight in Poulsbo and travels to La Conner 5:15 p.m. Friday in a nonleague game.

North Mason lost 68-49 against Sequim on Jan. 2 in Belfair and lost 47-36 against Olympic on Jan. 4 in Belfair.

The Bulldogs (2-5, 0-5) traveled to Bainbridge on Tuesday for an Olympic League game and hosts North Kitsap at 7 tonight in Belfair. North Mason travels to La Conner at 7 p.m. Friday for a nonleague game.

North Mason girls bowling

North Mason won 7-0 against Bremerton in an Olympic League girls bowling match on Jan. 4 at Hi-Joy Bowl in Port Orchard.

The Bulldogs traveled to All Star Lanes in Silverdale on Tuesday to face the Knights and are back at All Star Lanes at 2:45 p.m. today against Klahowya.

Mary M. Knight boys basketball

Mary M. Knight earned a 33-30 win against Raymond’s JV team on Jan. 3, but lost 79-29 on Jan. 5 on the road against Oakville.

MMK (2-6, 0-1) hosts Taholah at 7 p.m. Friday in Matlock in a 1B Coastal League game. The Owls travel to Clallam Bay at 4:30 p.m. Saturday for a league game.

Mary M. Knight girls basketball

Mary M. Knight girls basketball won 45-40 on Jan. 5 on the road against Oakville.

MMK (5-5, 1-0) hosts Taholah at 5:30 p.m. on Friday in Matlock for a 1B Coastal League game.

The Owls travel to face Clallam Bay at 3 p.m. Saturday in a league game.
