Thelma L. (Horton) Puhn

Thelma L. (Horton) Puhn, died on December 31, 2023 in Shelton.

Thelma was born on May 5, 1928 in Volga, South Dakota to parents Ralph M. and Esther L. (Norvold) Horton. She grew up in South Dakota, graduating from Washington High School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1946.

Following graduation, Thelma moved with her parents to Shelton, where she met and married Robert "Bob" Puhn in 1947; they had been married 73 years when he passed in 2020. Thelma loved the Shelton/Mason County community and was active with the GOP Women's Club, Shelton Yacht Club, the Historical Society, the Hospital Auxiliary, the Saint's Pantry, the Elks, Tramper Sams, as well as at Faith Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir and also served as the Church Secretary for a number of years retiring in 1985. Thelma also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends and hosting gatherings at the family home she and Bob built on Hammersley Inlet.

She is survived by her sons: David R. Puhn (Patti) of Shelton and R. Scott Puhn (Beverly) of Poulsbo, WA. She is also survived by six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13th 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Shelton. Thelma's memorial service will be live-streamed on the Shelton Faith Lutheran Church website and will also be available through YouTube following the service.
