Shirley Mavis Bellinghausen

Shirley Mavis Bellinghausen, age 94, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2023 in Shelton, WA surrounded by her children and the caring staff at Alpine Way Senior Living.

Shirley was born to Joyce and Lloyd Blondin in Seattle on October 22, 1929. Her family moved to Shelton in 1944 and Shirley graduated from Irene S. Reed High School in 1947. She married her high school sweetheart, Bob Bellinghausen in Saint Edward Catholic Church November 8, 1947 and enjoyed a long and happy marriage of 70 years before Bob's passing in 2017.

Bob and Shirley had five children, Steve (Carol), Sandra Smith (Larry), Paula Charbonneau, Theresa Torseth (Rick), and Jeff (Deborah) as well as 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She and Bob lived in Olympia, Wenatchee, Spokane, and Yakima Washington before settling back in Shelton after retirement, spending many happy years on Lake Limerick.

Shirley held many jobs during her life including writing a society column for the Shelton County Register, an Avon Lady, Elementary Librarian assistant, and owner/operator of a grocery store in Yakima among others. She also volunteered extensively and was always ready to lend a hand to those down on their luck.

Shirley loved singing and was a longtime member of Saint Edward parish where she was active in the choir for many years. Shirley and Bob enjoyed traveling, family, friends and will be missed.

A family service will be held before internment in Shelton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her Church Choir by sending a check to:
