Dedicated to the citizens of Mason County, Washington since 1886
Kenneth F. Maxwell was born on December 11, 1937, in Seattle, Washington, at Harborview Medical Center to Edna Ann Thompson and Marvin Ronald Maxwell. He grew up on his family homestead, which was established well before 1899, where he was raised on a dairy farm near his grandparent's orchard off the Maxwell Road in Maple Valley, Washington.
Ken passed away peacefully in Shelton, WA on October 18, 2023. He was 85 years old.
He graduated from Tahoma High School in 1956. He married Flora (Vanderford) Larson in 1959 and they had two children. He is survived by his two children, Annette (Maxwell) Johansen and Kevin Maxwell (Karen), two grandsons, a great-grandson, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Ken worked for the Boeing Company for almost 30 years and retired in 1995. He purchased his Shelton property in 1997 and designed and built his home on Little Nahwatzel Drive. He was always busy working on projects, whether it was home improvements and maintenance, working in his yard, or working on his vehicles. He was a very creative, resourceful, immaculate and organized person.
Some of Ken's favorite past times included dancing, hiking, R.V. traveling, and camping. He enjoyed collecting old coins, fishing, gardening, berry and mushroom picking, canning, baking, watching wildlife and generally being in the great outdoors. He was a fan of the Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Mariners, and loved to watch auto racing and driving fast cars. He also restored old classic vehicles.
Ken will be dearly missed by his friends and family.
