Shelton girls bowling
The Shelton girls bowling team won its opening match of the season against Centralia 1,433-1,354 on Nov. 7 at Fairway Lanes in Centralia.
Shelton won both individual games 563-533 and 614-592. Centralia won the first Baker game, 137-130, but the Highclimbers rebounded and won the second baker game, 126-92. “Baker” is a team scoring format.
Shelton captain Josefina Francisco-Zacarias led the way with a 146 average. Varsity bowlers included Francisco-Zacarias, Marsybel Hernandez-Zacarias, Kai Aronson, Lilah Wentworth, and Alivia Holte. Kaelynn Robbins competed with Shelton for the Baker games.
Shelton lost to Tumwater 1,463-1,458 on Nov. 9 at Westside Lanes in Olympia.
Shelton won the first game, 621-602, but Tumwater won the second game, 598-577. The Highclimbers won the first Baker game, 150-130, but Tumwater won the second Baker game, 133-110, to edge out Shelton in overall pins.
Holte led the Highclimbers with a 135 average and Summer Foreman was close behind with a 132 average. Varsity bowlers were Robbins, Marsybel Hernandez-Zacarias, Foreman, Wentworth Holte and Caitlin Foreman.
Shelton traveled to Fairway Lanes in Centralia on Tuesday to play against Rochester and faces Aberdeen at 3 p.m. today at Rainier Lanes in Aberdeen.
