Shelton cross country
Shelton senior Lily Bennett finished 17th at the state 2A girls cross country race Nov. 4 at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.
Bennett finished the race in 19 minutes, 50.2 seconds. First-year student Alisha Carpenter placed 54th in 20:56.
In the boys race, Shelton senior Carson Bursch finished 35th in 16:57. North Mason junior Jackson Bergdahl finished 85th in 17:49.
North Mason volleyball
North Mason lost to Franklin Pierce 3-0 in the District III 2A volleyball tournament on Nov. 3 at Sammamish High School to end the Bulldogs’ season.
Mary M. Knight volleyball
The Mary M. Knight volleyball team saw its season end in the 1B District IV tournament last week.
The Owls fell in straight sets to Naselle on Nov. 2 in Matlock, and then battled Coastal League rival Taholah in the consolation, but fell 3-1 to the Chitwins at Montesano High School on Nov. 4.
Winter season sports
Shelton and North Mason bowling teams began competition this week, while the Highclimbers, Bulldogs and Mary M. Knight Owls began practice for all other winter sports, including basketball and wrestling.
The first basketball games are schedule for Thanksgiving week, and all other sports begin competing in early December.
