Ricky Clay Lanning

Ricky Clay Lanning of Shelton, WA, lost his long courageous battle with Cancer on October 16, 2023, he was 75.

Rick was born on November 3, 1947, to Richard Charles Lanning and Della Virginia Hughes in Gooding, Idaho. The family relocated to Hoodsport, WA, where he made wonderful memories.

Rick graduated from Irene S. Reed High School in 1967, he then joined the United States Air Force, he was based at Forbes Air Force base in Topeka, Kansas.

Rick married Nora Lee Hasch-Hockman on September 14, 1967, in Port Angeles, WA.

Rick worked at the family-owned Hoodsport Café and Lanning's Appliance. Late in his career he worked for both Quality appliance and South Sound Appliance, where he not only gained co-workers but family.

Rick was an avid fan of; Boise State Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, Nascar/Kyle Busch, and most of all The King Elvis Presley.

Rick enjoyed traveling to Stanley, Idaho as well as Nashville and Georgia. Rick had the opportunity to visit Graceland.

Rick was a big-hearted kind family man, who was unending proud of his children and grandchildren, who he instilled "family takes care of family". Rick had a great sense of humor.

Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Brother Halleck Remington, sister-in-law Marge Remington, and cousin who was like his brother Stan Cole.

Rick is survived by his deeply loved wife Nora Lee Lanning, Daughter Danielle (John) Cook and son Christopher Lanning. Grandchildren: Chad (Ami) Cook, Cody (Shayla) Cook and Megan (Nolan) Coker.

Great grandchildren: Jace, Hallee, Ryan, Jackson, Loretta, Eli, and Barrett. Dogs Monkey and Phoebe.

Dear nieces and nephews; Michelle Baldy, Bill Remington, Rick Remington, Jerry Remington, and Shelly Remington. As well as numerous cousins and friends.

Rick will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
