June Rose Burrell, 97, passed away October 7, 2023, in Belfair, Washington, her home of 61 years. She was born June 6, 1926, to Chauncey and Katherine White in Everett, Washington. She also resided in the Washington cities of VanZandt, Bellingham, Wishkah, Rochester, and Little Rock.
June graduated from Mt. Baker High School (1944) and Western Washington College (1948). She married Richard "Dick" Burrell on November 22, 1947, in VanZandt. Professionally, she worked for the Ferndale, Wishkah and North Mason School Districts.
June had a quick wit and great sense of humor. Her positive attitude helped her always finding positives in every person and every situation. She was creative, resourceful and analytical. Coming from the Depression era, she never wasted anything. She welcomed everyone into her home and was always ready to feed the crowd, no matter how large.
She loved swimming, cooking, sewing, reading, gardening, and family activities, and was a member of Friends of Timberland Library.
June is survived by her son, John Burrell; daughters, Becky Burrell, Joan Nelson, and Kerry Abbott; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents; husband; and son, Richard "Rick" Burrell.
There will be an open house at her home in Belfair on Sunday, November 5, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Belfair Timberland Library.
