Kids at Hope speaker Thursday at Shelton High
Rick Miller, founder of Kids at Hope and a professor at Arizona State University, talks about the power of Hope as a youth and community development strategy from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Shelton High School Performing Arts Center, 3737 N. Shelton Springs Road.
Everyone is welcome.
According to Southside Superintendent Paul Wieneke, the seven local school districts wrote and received a competitive grant from the state to install Hope Frameworks. According to the organization, “Hope Square is a geographical location wherein different youth organizations agree to share a common belief system and resources to collectively be more effective than they can be individually.
“Within each community/neighborhood, there are a good number of organizations, institutions, agencies and programs, each providing a service they believe are important to the development of children.” Those organizations include schools, YMCAs, libraries, Boys & Girls Clubs, parks and recreation centers, and other community-based projects.
