Pancakes in the Park Sunday at Kneeland supports youths

The Shelton Kiwanis Club hosts its 72nd annual Pancakes in the Park from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Kneeland Park in Shelton.

For $7, you'll get pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee. Proceeds support local youth programs. The event includes free books and live music.

Create botanical print at library workshop

Textile artist April Sproule offers a talk and a hands-on botanical printing workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Shelton Timberland Library.

Sproule, who lived in Fortuna, California, is an artist-in-residence with Hypatia-in-the-Woods. Her project is a mixed-media textile art piece, "The Olympic Peninsula: A Sense of Place."

She will present her process and progress at the beginning of the library event.

Sproule will then present a demonstration and mini workshop on botanical printing.

All participants will create botanical prints on fabric. All supplies will be provided for a 9-by-12-inch print for framing or use in other projects.

Overdose awareness events in Shelton, Belfair

The seventh annual Mason County Overdose Awareness Walk and Resource Fair is hosted Aug. 31 at the Timberland Regional Library in Belfair, and Sept. 1 at Kneeland Park in Shelton.

Everyone is welcome. The events honor the memory of lives lost to overdoses and provide hope to those still struggling.

At the Belfair event at 23081 NE state Route 3, the Resource Fair begins at 3 p.m., the gathering for the walk begins at 5:45 p.m., and the walk begins at 6:05 p.m. The same times apply at the Shelton event at 100 Turner Ave.

Resource and job fair at Belfair church

The Mason County Resource and Job Fair will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 15 at The Bridge Church, 23001 state Route 3 in Belfair.

Attendees can find which local businesses are hiring, and what resources are available. Participants will include Olympic College, WorkSource, Sound Learning, the Coastal Community Action Program, Crossroads Housing, Mason Transit Authority and KMAS. Rotary Club hosts concert tonight in Kneeland Park

The band Hurts Like Hell performs at the Shelton Skookum Rotary Club's annual Music in the Park series from 7 to 8:30 tonight in Kneeland Park in Shelton.

The free concerts continue at the same time Tuesday evenings with Hilary Scott Aug. 3 and Pop Up Choir Aug. 10.

Hot Rodder's Car Show on Johns Creek Road

The Test of Time Car Club hosts the third annual Hot Rodder's Car Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 26 at Old Iron Park, 11 E. Johns Creek Road, Shelton.

Registration is $15, or $20 the day of the show. The event features goody bags for the first 150 cars, dash plaques, door prizes, raffles, vendors, exhibitors and sawmill demonstrations.
