Motorcyclist, 71, hurt in accident near Triton

A motorcyclist was injured Saturday on U.S. Highway 101 near Triton.

According to a Washington State Patrol news release, a 71-year-old Quilcene man was northbound near Triton when the motorcyclist pulled over to the soft right shoulder, but the man lost control, causing him to lay the motorcycle down. The rider was unable to get out from underneath the motorcycle.

The man was transported to Mason General and charges are pending an investigation.

Skydiver hospitalized

A skydiver became stuck in a tree and had to be rescued by emergency workers Sunday afternoon.

According to Washington State Patrol’s Katherine Weatherwax, WSP received a call from Skydive Kapowsin that a 40-year-old man who goes by “Twig” was in a squirrel suit and became stuck in a tree on the WSP driving course just north of Sanderson Field. They found the skydiver in a tree.

According to rescuers, the skydiver was unconscious on the way down due to G forces, but regained consciousness in time to avoid injury. The emergency parachute deployed prior to hitting the tree. Tree climbers from Skydive Kapowsin rescued the man.

The man was bleeding near his eye and was believed to have a possible head injury. He was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle as a precaution.
