Harstine speaker on 'Roaring '20s' Sunday

William Woodward, a professor of U.S. and Pacific Northwest history at Seattle Pacific University, will talk about "Will the 2020's Roar Like the 1920s?" at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Harstine Island Community Hall.

The free presentation is part of the Harstine Island Community Club's partnership with the Humanities Washington's Speaker's Bureau for the Inquiring Minds series.

The annual series has been presented in the winter. This is the first program presented during the summer, a request from the island's "snowbirds," the group states.

Aging agency hosts forum

The Area Agency on Aging's Executive Director Nicole Kiddoo will host seven community forums for the public to provide comments on its four-year area plan.

According to a news release, the plan includes strategies on how the agency will provide and deliver services in Lewis, Mason and Thurston counties.

Two forums will be in Mason County, the first scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 25 at the Hub Center for Seniors in Belfair. A forum will be from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 16 at the Shelton Senior Center.

Music in the Park concert tonight in Kneeland Park

The band Big Love performs at the Shelton Skookum Rotary Club's annual Music in the Park series from 7 to 8:30 tonight in Kneeland Park in Shelton.

The free concerts continue at the same time Tuesday evenings with The Lady Drinks Whiskey July 20, Hurts Like Hell July 27, Hilary Scott Aug. 3 and Pop Up Choir Aug. 10.
