Dedicated to the citizens of Mason County, Washington since 1886
State Route 106 between Belfair and Union will be closed beginning 7 a.m. Monday through 4 a.m. July 30.
Route 106 will close, except for local access, for about 9 miles from Dalby Road to Trails Road, which includes access to Twanoh State Park. The full closure will have a detour to U.S. Highway 101 and state Route 3 through Shelton. Emergency responders will have access through the work zone.
The closure will allow crews to work on removing and replacing a barrier to fish at Twanoh Creek. The closure will reduce the overall timeline of construction and minimize the footprint. The type of work in waterways can only be done during the summer to ensure that fish and habitat aren’t disturbed.
According to the project website, the project costs $5 million. Route 106 will have alternating traffic conditions during construction from July 31 to Sept. 1 and travelers might see occasional stops of up to 15 minutes.
