Jerry Owen Glavin, 80 passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side on Sunday May 14th, 2023 in Shelton WA. Jerry was born November 1st, 1942, in McMinville, Oregon to John (Jack) Joseph Glavin and Betty Louella Kingrey. He met JoAnn Ulery in Olympia, WA and they married in 1963. They had five children.
Throughout his life Jerry worked as a brush picker, mushroom picker, master cook and restaurateur. He prided himself in preparing and serving great food in his family run restaurants 'Omelets Alaska' in Anchorage AK and 'Jo and Jerry's Omelets' in Tumwater, WA. He enjoyed fishing, playing poker, shooting pool, sharing tall tales with friends, telling corny jokes, being outdoors, wearing straw hats and tending to his plants. He developed his lifelong appreciation for fishing, bagpipes and all things outdoors while staying with Oscar and Mabel Kildow and their two sons, Stan and Jim Kildow who were like a second family to him. Though Jerry didn't attend church he was a spiritual man. His final prayer was a "thank you" to God.
Jerry is survived by his longtime companion of 25 years Martha Plunkett, his five children, Rock Glavin, Patrick Glavin, Leah Glavin Ewert, Jeri Glavin and Denali Henson. His three sisters Susan Fleck, Shirley Albright and Sharon Wilson, his cousin Ross Squire and many lifelong friends, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father John Glavin 1977, his mother Betty Glavin 1986, and his brother John (Johnny) Glavin 1995.
There will be a celebration of life June 24th, 2023, Walker Park at 12-5:00 p.m., 2224 SE Walker Park Rd, Shelton WA. 98584.
