Dedicated to the citizens of Mason County, Washington since 1886
Our precious, beloved mother, Marjorie Darlene Howlett, passed away at the age of 84 years old May 2, 2023, in Shelton Washington.
Marjorie was born in Morton, Washington on February 28, 1939. Marjorie was comfortable in knowing she was loved throughout her last days with many family members, friends and four of her children by her side.
She is going to be missed and lovingly remembered by her four children, Jim Chambers, Jackie Chambers, Carl Morton (Becky), and Tonya Demmon (Harold), her sisters Violet Clemons (Al), Vivian Fleming, Delores Cecil (Gary), and brother Ralph Edwards (Heidi) as well as her 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and her three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by, and now united with her loving husband Danny Howlett, a son James, a, son Duane Morton and son Jake Morton, as well as her mom, Francis Smith Edwards, father Harvey Tiller, sister Pamela Salzwedel (Mark), brother Claude Edwards, and brother Bill Tiller.
Marjorie was a strong hard-working woman who liked to prove that she could do anything a man could. She was one of the first women to work for Simpson Lumber as a lead at the sort yard. She loved spending quality time with her family first and foremost, but also spending time with others by giving her time and resources where needed. She loved spending time outdoors gardening, while taking pride in wherever she lived and made sure that she was surrounded by beautiful flowers.
We feel that her best times with family were spending a great amount of time at the slot machines. She was lovingly nicknamed 'Grandma Nut' by her grandchildren, and they will forever remember the days spent with her from sitting on the porch watching the stars, camping outside, cooking up their favorite dishes to the later years watching her ride around on her scooter with flames on the sides. She will be missed by so many.
