George Samuel "Sam" Sevier passed away on Thursday May 11, 2023 in Shelton, WA. Sam was born on December 28, 1937 in Bellingham, WA to George and Lucille (Fisher) Sevier. Sam has been a resident of Shelton for 18 years. He moved to Shelton from Dunkirk, MD in 2005. Sam graduated from Mount Baker High School in Deming, WA in 1956, and then joined the U.S. Air Force. While Sam was stationed in Othello, WA where met the love of his life, Ida Mae Skogley. They married on July 2, 1959. Sam left the Air Force to attend college and graduated from Western Washington University in 1964 with a BA in Business and Economics, then rejoined the Air Force as an officer. While stationed in Fairbanks, AK, Sam attended the University of Alaska and received his MBA in 1976. Sam was a Vietnam Veteran and retired from the Pentagon in 1990.
Golfing and fishing were Sam's favorite pastimes. He was also a longtime member of the American Legion Post 31, VFW Post 1694, and the Shelton-Mason Chamber of Commerce. Sam was also the Mason County Republicans Precinct Officer.
Sam is survived by his loving wife, Ida, his son, William Samuel Sevier of Shelton, his brother James William Sevier of Bremerton, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Sam is predeceased by his parents George and Lucille Sevier and his son James Robert Sevier.
Sam's Memorial service is Monday, May 22, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. located at Forest Funeral Home - 313 W Railroad Ave., Shelton WA 98584.
