Marilyn Leigh Johnson (Dittman)

Marilyn Leigh Johnson (Dittman) passed away peacefully of natural causes on April 6, 2023, at the age of 92, while in the wonderful care of the staff at Shelton Health and Rehab.

Marilyn was born on October 23, 1930, to Harry and Magdalene Dittman in Shelton, WA where she remained a resident for 92 years. Marilyn attended Irene S. Reed High School, where she met the love of her life, Bill Johnson. They married as seniors and both graduated in 1948.

Immediately following graduation, Bill and Marilyn started their family. Marilyn took immense pride and excelled in her occupation as homemaker and stay-at-home mom to their three wonderful children. When she had spare time, she was an active member volunteering in the community with the Exceptional Foresters, Inc., the Parent-Teacher Association, and was occasionally a room mother at school. As a member of her church, Mount Olive Lutheran, she was active in fellowship, 'Lydia Ruth' and was also a Sunday school teacher. She loved to garden, and most importantly, spend time with her family and friends.

Marilyn was an inspiration to many people in the way that she lived her life selflessly serving others with compassion and tenderness. She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Bill Johnson; her parents Harry and Magdalene Dittman, sister, Shirley Dittman (Brundage), and brother Hart Dittman. She is survived by her daughters, Brooke James (Harry), Nancy Johnson (Alvin), son Mark Johnson (Debbie), as well as eight grandkids, 11 great-grandkids, and five great-great-grandkids.

A celebration of life will be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.
