Shepard excelling at St. Louis University

Kaitlin Shepard of Shelton earned a spot on the dean’s list for the fall semester at Washington University in St. Louis.

To qualify, a student must earn a semester GPA of 3.6 or better and be enrolled in at least 14 graded units. Shepard is enrolled in the university’s College of Arts & Sciences.

Making the grade at Oregon State

Four students from Mason County earned spots on the scholastic honor roll for winter quarter at Oregon State University.

To qualify, a student must earn a GPA of 3.5 or better while taking at least six graded hours of course work.

Lindsay S. Fitzmorris of Belfair is a senior majoring in agricultural sciences. From Shelton, senior Aaron J. Boothe is majoring in computer science; David L. Emmons is working on a post baccalaureate degree in computer science; and freshman Ryan Mackiewicz is majoring in biology.

Scholarships for Harstine residents

The Harstine Island Women’s Club and the Judy and Charles Chase Scholarship Fund Management Committee are offering scholarships to full-time residents of Harstine Island entering or continuing their post high school education.

Applicants must have obtained a diploma with an accredited high school program or earned a GED. Applications will be accepted through May 15. Winners will be announced by May 31.

The number and amount of the scholarships will be determined at the time the scholarship recipients are selected.

Scholarship for law enforcement student

Charlie’s Vision, a local nonprofit group, is again offering a $1,000 scholarship to any senior who is graduating from a local high school, private school or homeschooling who is considering a career in law enforcement. Applications are at http://www.charliesvision.org. Information, 360-275-8411.

Shelton Kiwanis Club has money available

April 30 is the deadline to apply for a scholarship from the Shelton Kiwanis Club.

Applications are available at [email protected].

They are also available from school counselors. The scholarship categories are education, general academic, life sciences, CTE (vocational/technical) and nursing.

Pioneer Kiwanis offers education aid

Pioneer Community Kiwanis are offering scholarships to high school or equivalent persons who are going to community college, university or trade schools. Requirements are to fill out application and be from Pioneer School District, (attendance not required for all eight grades).

Applications available at local high schools or call 360-426-2344 to receive one.

Harstine theater group scholarship

The Harstine island Theatre Club is offering a $500 scholarship.

Applications and guidelines are available at CHOICE, Cedar, Shelton, Mary M. Knight and North Mason high schools, and at Olympic College Shelton. Aug. 1 is the deadline to apply, and the winner will be announced by Aug. 15. Completed applications can be mailed to Scholarship Committee, Chair Dee Ann Meacham, 12 East Wilson Road, Shelton 98584 or emailed to [email protected].

OCCU has 10 $5,000 scholarships

April 30 is the deadline for graduating high school seniors to apply for 10 $5,000 scholarships offered by Our Community Credit Union.

The scholarships are open to graduating 2023 high school seniors who attend school in Mason, Grays Harbor and Thurston counties, and on Vashon Island. The students must be a member of OCCU to be eligible.

Applications and guidelines for the scholarship are available for download at http://www.ourcu.com/scholarship-program. The winners will be announced in May.
