Dedicated to the citizens of Mason County, Washington since 1886
Carol Ann Thompson Goddard
Carol was born December 22, 1946, in Bremerton, Washington, to Kay L. Thompson and Leona (Woeshnik) Thompson. Carol passed away on March 16, 2023, in Dayton, Eastern Washington from Covid.
Carol and her family moved back to Belfair, Washington in 1952 and remained there. Carol entered North Mason School District and went on to graduate 3rd in her graduating class of 1965. She went on to Olympic College for one year and met Thomas Goddard in Bremerton and they were married for 56 years, and lived in Federal Way. Also in 1966 they had their only child, Tammie Marie Goddard Elliott. She moved to Dayton, in Eastern Washington where the drier climate was better for her health. She spent here last few years in Booker Nursing Home due to MS health problems.
In about 1979, Carol was diagnosed with MS and she battled it for over 45 years. Carol worked for Bell Anderson Insurance Company in Kent, Washington for a number of years. Carol and Tom traveled around the western part of the United States, and after their retirement spent their winters in the Southwest. She often remarked about having to wait while a herd of buffaloes crossed over the road they were on in Yellowstone National Park and about how pretty Death Valley was when the cactus were in bloom.
Carol was predeceased by her parents, in-laws, grandparents and aunts and uncles. She leaves her husband, Thomas Goddard; sister Johanna Cates (George) of Belfair; sister-in-law Kathy Mahan of Seabeck; daughter Tammie Elliott (John) of Burien; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
There will be no services and Carol was cremated. Thank you to the staff at Booker Nursing Home and to all of her high school friends who sent her cards to cheer her. She may not have known who you all were, but the cards cheered her.
