Snow day extends district school year
To meet state requirements of 180 school days, the North Mason School District has added one snow day to extend the school year.
Students in the district will attend a full day school day on Friday, June 16. Monday, June 19 is the Juneteenth holiday and there is no school. June 20 is a half day of class, and the last day of the school year. The district states reminders will be sent to parents and guardians.
Celebration of Life Saturday for Clarke-Look
A memorial and a celebration of life for Sheri Lynn Clarke-Look is hosted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Belfair Apostolic Church, 22551 state Route 3, Belfair. A potluck follows the celebration of Clarke-Look, who died in a traffic accident near Bordeaux Elementary School on March 4.
Tahuya event offers wildfire lessons
Learn how to prepare for a wildfire at the state Department of Natural Resources’ Wildfire Ready Info Fair & Pancake Breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. April 8 at the North Mason Fire Authority No. 81 station at 14880 N.E. North Shore Road in Tahuya.

First Aid training in North Mason
North Mason Regional Fire Authority is hosting a first aid and CPR training class April 16 at the NMRFA station in Belfair.
According to a flier, the training includes learning about emergency situations, basic life supports, AED training and getting started with first aid. American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification classes available upon request.
Space is limited and the class is $40.
