Mary M. Knight boys basketball

The Owls lost their opening two games of the season to Quilcene and Three Rivers Christian.

Mary M. Knight lost 60-19 to Quilcene on Dec. 6 in Matlock. The Owls hit the road and fell 57-7 to Three Rivers Christian on Monday in Longview.

MMK (0-2, 0-1) traveled to Poulsbo to take on Chief Kitsap Academy on Tuesday for a nonleague game. The Owls will face the Cardinals at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Winlock.

Mary M. Knight girls basketball

Mary M. Knight defeated Quilcene but lost to Three Rivers Christian last week in girls basketball action.

The Owls defeated Quilcene 51-15 on Dec. 6 in Matlock before hitting the road and falling 57-21 to Three Rivers Christian in Longview on Monday.

MMK (2-1) is scheduled to face Pe Ell at 7 p.m. Friday in Pe Ell and will be back in Lewis County on Saturday to play the Cardinals at noon in Winlock.

Shelton girls bowling

Shelton fell in Evergreen Conference matches against Centralia and Tumwater last week.

The Highclimbers lost to Centralia 1,535-1,476 at Fairway Lanes in Centralia on Dec. 6. The varsity recorded its highest total for the season, which included high games for Kylee Moore, Abbie Hirzel, Kaylin Lankelis and Shayla Kiehn. Shelton won both Baker games, with Lilah Wentworth bowling three strikes, Marsybel Hernandez Zacarias bowling two strikes and two spares and Josefina Francisco Zacarias had a strike and a spare.

Shelton lost to Tumwater 1,873-1,414 at Westside Lanes in Olympia on Dec. 8. Jillian Meirndorf bowled her high game of 149.

Shelton traveled to Fairway Lanes in Centralia on Tuesday to take on Rochester in the final match before winter break.

The Highclimbers lost a pair of Evergreen Conference games to

Tuwmater and W.F. West last week.

Shelton fell to Tumwater 77-42 at home Dec. 6 and lost 63-42 to the Bearcats on Dec. 8 in Shelton. Gabriel Menefee led the Highclimbers with 11 points against W.F. West and Weetly Cordova added nine points.

Shelton (0-3, 0-2) traveled to Tumwater to take on Black Hills on Wednesday. The Highclimbers travel to Olympia on Saturday to face Capital in a nonleague game.

Shelton girls basketball

Shelton lost to the Thunderbirds and Bearcats in Evergreen Conference girls basketball games last week.

The Highclimbers lost on the road against Tumwater 57-51 on Dec. 7. Shelton lost 70-20 to W.F. West on Dec. 9 in Chehalis.

Shelton (0-3, 0-2) hosted Black Hills on Tuesday and travels to Bremerton to face Olympic on Friday in a nonleague game.

Shelton wrestling

Shelton fell in an Evergreen Conference dual meet against W.F. West on Dec. 8 in Chehalis before competing against Mount Si in a dual meet on Dec. 10 in Bremerton.

The Highclimbers lost 58-13 to the Bearcats. Shelton fell to Mt. Si 49-21. Shelton’s Richard Lingle at 120 pounds, Ty Fleshman at 132 pounds, Logan Peach at 145 pounds and Phenix Oleachea at 160 pounds each earned wins against Mt. Si.

Shelton hosted Black Hills on Wednesday in an EvCo dual meet and will compete at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds in Bremerton at 8 a.m. Saturday in the Hammerhead Invitational Tournament.

Shelton boys swimming

Shelton competed against Timberline in a nonleague boys swimming meet Dec. 6 in Shelton.

Wyatt Anthis won the 200-yard freestyle in 2 minutes, 26.15 seconds. Tawan Benedict won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:11.60 and won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:44.84. Judah Holzgrove won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:19.01.

The Shelton 200-yard medley relay team of Jayden Lovingfoss, Charlie Morson, Benedict and Wyatt Anthis won with a time of 1:58.82. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Lovingfoss, Tylan Anthis, Holzgrove and Brady Walsh won with a time of 1:53.54. The 400-yard relay team of Benedict, Wyatt Anthis, Coy Carter and Morson won with a time of 3:59.53.

Shelton traveled to Aberdeen on Wednesday for an Evergreen Conference match.

North Mason girls basketball

North Mason earned an Olympic League win against Kingston before a loss to Port Angeles last week.

The Bulldogs won 58-42 at home against Kingston on Dec. 6. North Mason hit the road and fell 52-15 on Dec. 8 against the Roughriders.

North Mason (2-1, 1-1) hosted Bremerton on Tuesday before traveling to Sequim today for a league game. The Bulldogs play in Chimicum on Saturday against East Jefferson.

The Bulldogs lost 78-39 to Port Angeles in North Mason’s home opener on Dec. 8.

North Mason fell to Kingston 83-75 against Chimacum on Dec. 6 in Kingston.

North Mason (0-3, 0-2) traveled to Bremerton on Tuesday and hosts Sequim today in an Olympic League game. The Bulldogs will face East Jefferson at 5 p.m. Saturday in Belfair.

North Mason girls bowling defeated Olympic but fell to Bremerton and Port Angeles in Olympic League matches last week.

The Bulldogs defeated Olympic 6-1 at All Star Lanes in Silverdale on Dec. 6. North Mason lost 4-3 to Bremerton at HiJoy Bowl in Port Orchard Dec. 7 before falling to Port Angeles 6-1 on Dec. 8 at Laurel Lanes in Port Angeles.

North Mason hosted Sequim in Port Orchard on Tuesday and faces Port Angeles again, this time in Port Orchard, today in the last match of 2022.

North Mason wrestling

The North Mason boys wrestling team finished sixth at the Larry Brown tournament on Dec. 10 in Fife.

Pedro Salvador at 152 pounds and Jake Mathews at 160 pounds each won their weight classes. Salvador won the championship match by a 15-9 decision against Auburn’s Dominik Smith. Mathews won the championship match by pin against Mercer Island’s Daniel Mezistrano.

North Mason’s Ethan Fore finished third in the 225-pound tournament and Sean Ferber also placed third at 132 pounds. Caden Atencio finished fifth at 170 pounds and Charles Broughton earned sixth place at 145 pounds.

North Mason traveled to Port Angeles on Wednesday for an Olympic League dual meet. The Bulldogs will be at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds in Bremerton on Saturday for the Hammerhead Tournament.
