James D. Bennett

James D. Bennett 5/15/57 – 11/5/22

James David Bennett, 65, passed away from heart failure. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cindy Bennett, his brother David (Rhonda) Bennett and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Janice Bennett, brother Melvin Bennett, and sister Rita Williams.

Jim was always self-employed. He owned and operated hair salons in Federal Way for 20 years. He and his wife, Cindy, owned and operated the Pinetree Restaurant in Shelton from 1997 to 2017.

Jim loved traveling and dreamed of building a vacation home on their property in Chacala, Mexico. They owned several boats over the years motoring around the waterways in Puget Sound from Olympia north to the San Juan Islands, always dropping anchor for festivals and markets. Jim loved to cook and could whip up an amazing sauce to go with whatever he had masterfully grilled. He was well-read and loved analyzing information. Jim's great sense of humor brought joy to many people. A diagnosis of multiple myeloma and a resulting stem cell transplant slowed Jim down in the last five years but he kept fighting and had been in remission since 2018.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
