North Mason volleyball
North Mason’s season ended on Friday in a three-set loss to Orting in the West Central District III volleyball tournament at Franklin Pierce High School.
Orting won with set scores of 25-21, 25-7 and 25-18. North Mason senior middle blocker Desarae Timmons had two aces, six kills and two blocks. Senior setter Ashlyn Stephens had one kill, 15 assists and five digs and senior outside hitter Teegan Skjonsby had three kills and two digs.
“We had an exceptional end of our normal season and are grateful to have earned postseason matches at the Olympic League playoffs and then to districts,” North Mason coach Kanoe Lilly told the Journal in an email. “Many thank-you’s to the players for their hard work and determination and to the support of our families.”
North Mason finished 6-12 overall and 4-10 in Olympic League matches.
Shelton girls bowling
Shelton won the opening match against Centralia before falling to Tumwater in Evergreen Conference girls bowling matches last week at Westside Lanes in Olympia.
The Highclimbers won 1,380 to 1,265 against Centralia on Nov. 8. Shelton won the first game by only two pins and the second game by 144 pins and won the Baker game.
Shelton was led by Marsybel Hernandez-Zacarias with a 154 average and an all-time high game of 172. Kylee Moore averaged a 145.
On Nov. 10, Tumwater defeated Shelton 1,912 to 1,318. Camilla Crow bowled on varsity for the first time and bowled above her average.
Shelton (1-1, 1-1) hosted Rochester on Tuesday and hosts Aberdeen today at Westside Lanes in an EvCo match.
