Churches accept donations of gifts for children

Calvary Fellowship of Shelton and The Bridge Church in Belfair are accepting donations of gifts packed in shoe boxes for the annual international Operation Christmas Child drive.

Calvary Fellowship of Shelton is at 50 E. Island Lake Road. Donation times are 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 14, 3 to 5 p.m. Nov. 15, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16 and 17, noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 18, 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 19, noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 20, and 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 21.

The Bridge Church is at 23001 NE state Route 3 in Belfair. Donation times are 9 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 14 and 15, 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 16, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 17, 2 to 5 p.m. Nov. 18, 9 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 19, 1 to 5 p.m. Nov. 20, and 8 to 10 a.m. Nov. 21.

Forums on fire districts, shoreline management

The League of Women Voters of Mason County hosts two programs in November, and the public is invited to both.

Curt Bennett, a Mason Fire District 4 commissioner, will present “Why Fire Districts Matter to You” via Zoom at noon Nov. 15. Bennett will talk about how fire districts are organized, who they are funded and who oversees spending, how the organizational structure has changed over time and if it is still effective, and proposed options for moving forward.

The group will share its study of the Shoreline Management Act, several years in the making, at 10 a.m. Nov. 16 at the Shelton Civic Center, 525 W. Cota St. Shelton Senior Planner Jason Dose will attend.
