Seraph Brass will perform at 7 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Shelton High School Performing Arts Center.
After a three-year hiatus due to the COVID pandemic, the Mason County Concert Association kicks off its 2022-2023 season with The Everly Set performing a tribute to the Everly Brothers at 7 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Shelton High School Performing Arts Center.
The series continues with Seraph Brass at 7 p.m. Oct. 24, the four-piece rock band Vinyl Radio at 7 p.m. Jan. 25, and the Sultans of String International String Trio at 7 p.m. March 17. All the shows are in the PAC at 3737 N. Shelton Springs Road.
The series has been staged in Shelton since 1949, and is part of a national organization established in 1926 to bring quality entertainment to small towns.
"You don't have to drive to Olympia or Seattle," said Becky Schuyten, who has been president of the Mason County Concert Association for 20 years. "And these are high-quality acts."
About 16 members of the association watch videos of entertainers and vote for their choices.
"It used to be strictly classical music," Schuyten said. Now the selections include oldie's acts and dance troupes, she said.
The season kicks off Sept. 25 with The Everly Set - featuring lead singers Sean Altman and Jack Skuller - bringing to life the hits by brothers Phil and Don Everly in the late 1950s and early 1960s such as "Bye, Bye Love" and "When Will I Be Loved." On Oct. 24, the all-female ensemble Seraph Brass performs classical and newly commissioned works.
On Jan. 25, the rock band Vinyl Radio performs music by America, The Eagles, The Doobie Brothers, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, and others. The season concludes March 17 with the Sultans of String International String Trio playing Celtic, flamenco, gypsy and Arabic music.
The PAC is a "great" venue, Schuyten said.
"It's been upgraded, the sound system is good, the seats are good," she said.
Season tickets for adults are $100; for $10 more, you can bring as many of your children 18 and younger as you want. Individual show tickets are $30 and are available at the door. Tickets and more information are available at http://www.masoncountyconcerts.org and 360-426-1842.
