Section of SR 302 closure begins today

A nine-day closure of a section of state Route 302 at Little Minter Creek is set to begin at 9 p.m. today.

Construction crews working for the state Department of Transportation will install two culverts to improve fish migration under the highway.

During the round-the-clock closure, detours will be in place. Passenger vehicles should follow a detour between 118th Avenue Northwest and 134th Avenue Northwest. Semitrailers and oversized loads should follow a detour using Routes 302, 3 and 16, which will add an estimated 25 minutes of travel time.

Check detour routes at http://www.youtu.be/vPF50z4laz8.

Once the culverts are installed and the road reopens, scheduled at 5 a.m. Aug. 20, drivers can expect alternating one-way traffic until the project is complete.

Space rental fees due Saturday for Dewatto event

Tchotchke shoppers can check out the Dewatto Community Yard Sale, Barbecue and Potluck at 2501 NE Dewatto Road from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 27.

There is a $10 space rental fee for those who would like to sell items in the yard sale.

Yard sale space rental fees are due by Saturday, and are nonrefundable — unless the event is canceled due to lack of either participation or interest.

To pay the yard sale space rental fees, stop at the port building and pay Port Manager Jeana Crosby directly, with cash or checks only, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Call Crosby at 360-372-2695 to ensure she’s in the office at the time.

You can also mail a check to the Port of Dewatto at P.O. Box 1483, Belfair, WA 98528. Ensure your payment will arrive before Saturday.

For those attending the event, $5 buys a hamburger or hot dog, a bag of chips, a cookie and a drink at the barbecue, where additional food items can also be purchased individually.

Your $5 will also provide you with access to the potluck menu, including salads, side dishes and desserts.

All attendees are asked to bring a salad, side dish or dessert to contribute to the potluck.

Call Rich and Kathy Kroll at either 360-372-2733 or 360-271-4626.
