Barbara Blancher Van Etten

Barbara Blancher Van Etten, 92, passed away peacefully July 17, 2022, at Panorama Nursing Facility in Lacey, WA. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Barbara was born in the Edgemont area of North Puyallup. She attended Fife High School and graduated from Oregon State College. She met and married her husband Al in 1951. He preceded her in death. The couple moved to Puyallup, WA in 1953 and raised five children. Barbara got her teaching credential and taught elementary school in Puyallup for many years. On retirement, she moved to Shelton and then to Panorama. She was a kind and loving friend and could always be counted on for a cheerful and caring word or action.

She is survived by her five children: Chris Modlin (Michael), Dawn Pannell, Albert (Ab) Van Etten (Laura), Mary Ann Petersen (Erik) and Jill Evander (Dave). She has eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

The family is very thankful for the excellent care given at Panorama and by Hospice.
