Tickets on sale for annual Love INC golf tournament

Tickets are on sale for the 11th annual Love INC Charity Golf Tournament, which will be hosted July 18 at the Alderbrook Golf and Yacht Club in Union.

Teams of up to four golfers can register for $175.

The event is the largest fundraiser for Shelton-based Love INC (In the Name of Christ), whose 25 partner churches provide people with clothing, blankets, backpacks for kids, diapers, medical equipment and financial help. Visiting pianist performing at Shelton church

San Francisco-area pianist Anne Rainwater, an artist in residence at Hypatia-in-the-Woods outside Shelton, will perform a free concert at 7 p.m. July 21 at Shelton United Methodist Church.

The concert, titled “Summer Heart,” will feature works by George Gershwin, Maurice Ravel, Franz Schubert and J.S. Bach.

A writer as well as a musician, Rainwater’s project during her residency is a book exploring the internal and external ecosystems that contribute to the understanding, practice and performance of music. She has released two albums.

Hypatia-in-the-Woods is a volunteer-operated nonprofit that offers residencies to women in the arts and academia. The group offers performances and workshops by its visiting artists.

Annual bluegrass festival July 29-31

Tickets are on sale for the Kristmas Town Kiwanis Club’s 17th annual Bluegrass from the Forest Festival, which will be staged July 29-31 at the South Mason Youth Soccer Park.

The festival offers performances on two stages, food and music vendors, a beer and wine garden, and programs for kids. One-day and three-day passes are available at bluegrassfromtheforest.com. For more information, call 360-490-8981.
