Shelton High School senior Alauna Carstens edges Ellensburg's Kate Laurent at the finish line to win the 1,600-meter race at the 2A state championship meet Thursday at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma. Carstens' time was 4:58.34. On Saturday, Carstens won the 3,200-meter race to capture her second state title of the meet and set a state meet record of 10:44.46.
